Why is my PC slow?

Why is my PC suddenly so slow?

A common support call problem is a slow PC! There are many reasons why this could be, we look at a few common causes below.

Too many windows and browser tabs

multiple open browser tabs

Does the above accurately reflect your browsing habits? Due to multiple open, unused programs, along with too many open browser tabs, all have a negative effect on your PC’s performance.

You haven’t rebooted in a while

Restarting your pc is vital to ‘wipe clean’ your current state and lets your programs start again. Memory leaks are very common; software gets more bloated, consuming more memory, until the software is closed and the pc restarted.

You need to upgrade your hard drive

Sometimes there’s no capacity to improve the current hardware and an upgrade is required. Upgrading to an SSD (Solid State Drive) is a good option and can dramatically improve your performance. Many of the laptops we sell are able to have an SSD fitted at a later date, or we can get it fitted at purchase. We offer a range of SSD’s and external hard drive solutions, give us a call to find out more.

Your pc is infected with malware

Worst case scenario, your pc is infected. However, we’ll be able to get you up and running quicker if you’ve got an adequate backup. Prevention is better than a cure though, and you should make sure everyone in your company knows the signs of a spam email of suspicious website. Take a look at our Managed Services page for more details on securing your system.
